Job Role

The ParentsNext program is a government initiative that assists eligible parents in planning and preparing for employment by the time their children go to school. This important role helps disadvantaged parents prepare for their return to the workforce.

As a career advisor, you will work with parents to set education and employment goals. You will assist them in developing a pathway plan and linking them to services and activities in the local community to help achieve their goals and overcome barriers to employment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify individual education and employment goals and develop strategies to meet these needs
  • Provide guidance and support to customers on career development, labour market information, and job applications
  • Collaborate with the local community to build relationships and coordinate referrals to community agencies
  • Assist customers with CV preparation, interview skills, and employer expectations
About You
  • Build effective relationships within the community
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, organisational, and customer service skills
  • Empathetic approach and ability to build trust and rapport
  • Effective problem solver
  • Working with Vulnerable People or Children Check
  • Current drivers licence
