Delivering exceptional care to individuals with complex mental health needs requires a deep understanding of the patient experience and the ability to provide holistic support.

This role presents an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Consultant to join our dynamic team at Bankstown Hospital, where you will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to advocate for consumers and deliver truly person-centred care.

As a leader in clinical practice development, you will drive innovation and service improvement initiatives, leveraging your expertise to enhance the capacity of medical, nursing, and allied health teams to deliver safe, compassionate care.

You will contribute to strategic planning, research, and quality improvement initiatives, applying your advanced skills in comprehensive assessment and management of mental health consumers, including risk assessment knowledge, consumer and family counselling, and behavioural management therapies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced clinical expertise and consultation across inpatient and general hospital settings
  • Leverage expertise to enhance the capacity of medical, nursing, and allied health teams to deliver safe, compassionate care
  • Contribute to strategic planning, research, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Apply advanced skills in comprehensive assessment and management of mental health consumers
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • At least 5 years full-time equivalent post-registration experience, with at least 3 years full-time equivalent experience in the specialty field
  • Demonstrated evidence of strategies used to maintain current knowledge of clinical practice advances and research in mental health
  • Demonstrated ability to apply expert Mental Health knowledge to provide safe, compassionate, quality care that is culturally responsive

SWSLHD Inpatient Mental Health Services provide comprehensive care across several facilities, including Campbelltown Hospital and Liverpool Hospital. These services offer a safe and therapeutic environment for individuals with acute and non-acute mental health needs.
