Core Yard Technician

At our organization, we are seeking a skilled and experienced technician to join our team in an essential role that requires strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently. This 3-month contract position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on tasks and have a passion for maintaining safe working environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • The core yard technician will be responsible for orientating and meter-marking incoming diamond drill core, ensuring accuracy and precision in all measurements.
  • They will also record RQD (recoverable drilling) and fracture frequency data, which is critical for informing geological assessments and decision-making processes.
  • Additionally, the technician will utilize specialized software for taking high-quality photographs of the core samples, providing valuable visual information for analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Sampling and preparation of the core for daily dispatch is another key responsibility, requiring the technician to prioritize tasks effectively and manage their time efficiently.
  • Loading and unloading trucks, as well as maintaining general housekeeping of the core yard, are also important aspects of this role.
  • Compliance with site safety standards and procedures is paramount, and the successful candidate will be expected to maintain a strong focus on safety throughout their tenure.

Our ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, be self-motivated, and able to work autonomously. Familiarity with core management systems such as acQuire, Imago, and Microsoft 365 would be beneficial but not essential.

Requirements:
  • A current 'C' Class Driver's Licence is mandatory, as is the ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen.
  • Having a Forklift licence would be highly regarded, but not required.
