About Safer Family Services

We provide intensive family support services to children, young people and families at risk of statutory intervention from child protection or youth justice systems.

Our department works collaboratively with government and non-government services to deliver wholistic case management to vulnerable children and their families through engagement and building relationships.

This ensures children remain safe within their families, connected to culture and community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver quality client-focused support services to eligible infants, children and their families identified as having high and complex needs, adhering to practice guidelines, protocols, audits and quality indicators.
  • Provide a case work response to infants, children and families as directed by senior staff, utilising a comprehensive case management approach including assessments in partnership with infants, children, families, colleagues and other services, and various intervention approaches.
  • Assess the safety of, and negotiate the mitigation of risk to, infants/children including communicating effectively and efficiently with Supervisor regarding issues of escalation for safety and care.
Essential Qualifications

An appropriate Social Work qualification from a recognised tertiary institution enabling eligibility for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers is required.

Working Conditions

A National Police Check and Employment-related Screening Check are necessary. Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required, and a current Australian-issued driver's licence equivalent to minimum class C is a must.
