About the Role
The Specialist Employment Mentor will be responsible for providing intensive mentoring to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander customers to ensure their transition into employment is successful and sustained.
This role requires an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively in order to build trusting relationships.
The ideal candidate will have experience in working sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, while respecting traditional cultures and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide intensive mentoring to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander customers
- Build trusting relationships with customers
- Communicate sensitively and effectively with customers
- Work effectively with a culturally diverse range of clients, employers and staff
- Have a strong passion and drive for helping people find sustainable and meaningful employment
Requirements
- Experience in working sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with customers
- Strong passion and drive for helping people find sustainable and meaningful employment
- Ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse range of clients, employers and staff
- Certificate IV in Employment Services or Career Development (preferably)
