About MMG Rosebery Mine: This underground polymetallic base metal mine, situated in the township of Rosebery on Tasmania's west coast, has been integral to the community since 1936. It ranks among Tasmania's largest and oldest continuously operating underground mines, producing zinc, copper, lead concentrates, and gold doré.

With approximately 500 employees and their families supported, MMG Rosebery Mine emphasizes community engagement and collaborates with various local businesses, enhancing the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Underground Shift Supervisor, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all underground truck haulage operations are conducted safely and efficiently, adhering to company and legislative standards.

On a shift-by-shift basis, your duties will include:

  • Conducting pre-start safety inspections on assigned mining equipment.
  • Executing shift plans to safely transport ore to the surface processing facility.
  • Maintaining real-time communication with Mine Control.
  • Completing all necessary shift documentation.
  • Facilitating effective handovers with cross-shift colleagues and supervisors.
  • Conducting workplace inspections.
  • Safely transporting rock materials to designated underground tipping points.
  • Ensuring proper signage for hazards is utilized and maintained according to site standards.
  • Upholding excellent housekeeping practices at all times.
  • Assisting Jumbo Operations through Nipper work.
  • Collaborating with Underground Drillers and undertaking additional tasks as directed by the shift supervisor.
  • Performing manual labor that requires a high level of physical fitness.

Qualifications

  • Clear Pre-Employment Medical and Drug & Alcohol screening, along with a willingness to undergo Pre-Employment Background checks.
  • Experience operating heavy earth-moving machinery (Cat AD55/AD60 preferred).
  • Previous underground mining experience is advantageous, or experience in manufacturing or heavy industry.
