About Rosebery Mine

MMG Rosebery Mine is a long-standing underground polymetallic base metal operation situated in Tasmania's west coast. Since 1936, it has been a vital part of the Rosebery community, recognized as one of Tasmania's largest and most enduring underground mines, producing zinc, copper, lead concentrates, and gold doré.

With a workforce of approximately 500 individuals and their families, the mine is deeply rooted in community engagement and collaborates with numerous local businesses, thereby enhancing the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.

Position Overview

As an Underground Operator reporting to the Underground Shift Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all underground truck haulage operations are conducted safely and efficiently, adhering to both company and legislative standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting pre-start safety inspections on assigned mining equipment.
  • Executing shift plans to safely transport ore to the surface processing facility.
  • Maintaining real-time communication with Mine Control.
  • Completing all necessary shift documentation.
  • Facilitating effective handovers with cross-shift teams and supervisors.
  • Performing workplace inspections.
  • Safely transporting rock materials to designated underground tipping areas.
  • Ensuring proper signage for hazards is utilized and maintained according to site protocols.
  • Upholding high housekeeping standards consistently.
  • Assisting Jumbo Operations as a Jumbo Offsider (Nipper), which involves manual labor requiring a strong level of physical fitness.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid manual driver's license.
  • First aid certification is desirable.
