Position Summary:
We are in search of a Construction Inspector to oversee land development and municipal projects. This role is crucial in ensuring that construction activities adhere to design specifications and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of construction activities to verify compliance with design specifications and regulatory standards.
- Evaluate contractor's grade and alignment to ensure project accuracy.
- Verify that materials provided by contractors meet the required standards.
- Notify contractors of any deficiencies in work and recommend corrective actions as directed by project management.
- Document daily onsite activities, including equipment and labor usage.
- Coordinate with sub-consultants for specialized inspections and material testing as necessary.
- Facilitate site meetings and maintain detailed meeting minutes.
- Gather 'for record' information throughout the construction process.
- Maintain a comprehensive field diary to document daily site activities and prepare inspection reports.
- Assist project management in preparing contract-related documents, including change orders and invoices.
- Confirm the completion of work quantities for contractor payment assessments.
- Review contractor documentation and be aware of special requirements, including traffic control and safety plans.
Position Requirements:
- A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience in construction inspection.
- C.E.T. certification or eligibility is advantageous.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient understanding of contract drawings and construction standards.
- Field experience with heavy machinery.
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently with minimal supervision.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
