Job Title: Infrastructure Program Director

This is an exciting opportunity to work on the Major Infrastructure Program (MIP) Team within a government agency. As an EL 2 Director, you will play a key role in designing, delivering and reviewing programs targeting major infrastructure projects across Australia.

The MIP program of work involves regulating complex and high-profile construction projects that involve high-risk Work Health and Safety (WHS) matters. Our regulatory approach includes conducting proactive monitoring and compliance activities, providing information and advice to stakeholders, and sharing better practice WHS initiatives.

As a strong experienced leader, you will have the political acumen to identify, address and escalate risks as appropriate. You will bring strong stakeholder management skills, demonstrating the ability to engage with a variety of interested parties pertaining to Work Health and Safety and legislative requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve regulatory outcomes for the MIP program.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination on regulatory matters.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including industry associations, unions, and WHS regulators.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues on WHS matters, ensuring consistency and quality in regulatory decisions.

Requirements:

  • Degree in a relevant field, such as law, business or public administration.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Work Health and Safety, Government Investigations, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in WHS regulation, compliance, or a related field.
  • Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills.
