Geriatric Medicine Position

The position is available at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, part of the Murrumbidgee Local Health District.

As a Staff Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive medical services, contributing to the education and supervision of junior medical staff, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

About You

You are a skilled physician with:

  • Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Physician in Geriatric Medicine or approaching fellowship and specialist registration.
  • Recent clinical experience in Geriatric Medicine, ideally within a comparable service setting.
  • A strong commitment to collaborative care and the ability to lead and inspire a clinical team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and proficiency in using clinical information systems.

Selection Criteria

To be considered for this role, you must demonstrate:

  • Holds unconditional specialist registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
  • Evidence of Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, specialising in Geriatric Medicine or an Advanced Trainee in the final 6 months of training approaching fellowship and/or proof of recognition as a specialist by the Specialists Recognition Advisory Committee
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of contemporary evidence-based best practice In Geriatric Medicine and evidence of competence in skills relevant to Australian rural hospital practice
