Financial Management Role

The Financial Controller is a senior finance position accountable for delivering all financial reporting, compliance, and fiscal management services. This encompasses the Annual audit function, Internal audit program, budgeting, planning, treasury, payroll, and monthly Board reporting and variance analysis.

This individual will be responsible for managing cash flow and liquidity to meet operational needs, collaborating with the FP&A team and Senior Managers to identify, develop, and implement financial improvement opportunities that align with organisational objectives.

Key responsibilities include ensuring financial activities are managed responsibly and comply with legislative policy, organisational objectives, and designated timeframes; overseeing the annual budget process; and developing, updating, and ensuring compliance with finance-related policies.

To be successful in this role, the candidate must possess a strong background in accounting, finance, or related field, with at least 10 years' experience in leading the preparation of management reports, budgets, and forecasting.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with others to negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes.

A detail-focused and organised individual with the proven capacity to take on and deliver multiple and varied projects and competing deadlines is required. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to embedding Harness Racing Victoria values, mission, and vision, and model the practical application of these values in their work.
