Pastry Chef Job

Coolangatta is a great place to live and work, offering a high standard of living and a strong economy. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Pastry Chef to join our busy national bakery.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Pastry Chef to work in our busy kitchen preparing and cooking various international hot and cold meals for our customer airlines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food manufacturing and production or large multi-function high-end venues.

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment that ensures the highest quality menu items with consistent taste and appearance.
  • Be multi-skilled and lead teams in all areas of food production and assembly.
  • Evaluate stock levels and ensure minimal product wastage.
  • Prioritize workload to meet delivery requirements and deadlines.
  • Prepare complex dishes to specification.
  • Monitor and improve production processes to exceed customer expectations.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff as required.
  • Work effectively under pressure to meet passenger load requirements and airline specifications.
  • Participate in menu development and presentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and hygiene standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Demonstrated success in a similar role.
  • Trade-qualified Chef with at least 3 years' experience in a high-volume food production environment.
  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment preferred but not essential.
  • Advanced knowledge of HACCP / QSAI / Food Safety and OHS.
  • Prior experience in a HALAL working environment and knowledge regarding segregation and separation of equipment.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work across a 7-day rotating roster.
