**Job Opportunity: Chambers Associate** 

The role of the Chambers Associate is multifaceted, encompassing various responsibilities that contribute to the efficient management of chambers and court. As an integral member of the team supporting a Judge in the day-to-day operations, this position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the judicial chamber.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day running of chambers, including responding to inquiries and providing excellent customer service.
  • Supervise the work of the Deputy Associate, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes productivity and growth.
  • Assist the Judge in managing the docket by preparing and managing matters awaiting hearing, ensuring timely disposition and adherence to procedural guidelines.
  • Maintain the court's case management system up-to-date and assist the Judge in preparing orders and typing judgments, demonstrating attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Promote positive relationships with external stakeholders, representing the court in a professional manner.
  • Contribute to organisational forums working towards better working practices, embracing a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Undertake other duties as required, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.

 

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong communication (oral and written) and liaison skills, enabling effective interaction with people at all levels.
  • The ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities, ensuring seamless execution of tasks.
  • Tolerance, diligence, and the capacity to work collaboratively as a member of a small team.
  • A high standard of ethical behaviour, upholding the values of integrity, professionalism, and respect.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Legal qualifications are desirable, indicating a strong foundation in legal principles and procedures.
  • Ability to undertake legal research as required by the Judge, showcasing expertise in researching and analysing complex legal issues.
  • The capacity to travel on circuits as required, demonstrating flexibility and willingness to engage in professional development.
