Job Title: Recreation Officer

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Recreation Officer to join our team. As a Recreation Officer, you will play a crucial role in developing and facilitating individual recreational pursuits designed to meet the leisure needs of each client.

The successful candidate will have a background in Recreation, Leisure and Lifestyle or equivalent qualifications, and experience working with clients with challenging and complex needs.

This is a part-time position, working 67.5 hours per fortnight on weekday and weekend shifts. You will be based at our Williamstown Hostel in Melbourne.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Facilitating onsite recreation activities for groups of residents or one-to-one sessions as directed by the Coordinator.
  • Assisting with offsite recreation activities, including driving the bus, for groups of residents or one-to-one sessions as directed by the Coordinator.
  • Ensuring clients' individual recreation interests are established and facilitated.
  • Encouraging clients to maintain their community associations and contacts.
  • Maintaining accurate and relevant documentation, up-to-date and meeting ACFI requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Current driver's license (mandatory)
  • Recreation, Leisure and Lifestyle or equivalent qualifications (soon-to-be or recent graduates are encouraged to apply)
  • Ability and desire to work with clients with challenging and complex needs
  • Interest in social justice issues
  • Prior experience in Homelessness, Aged Care, Welfare, Disability, Allied Health or Community Care
  • Current First Aid Certificate 2 or willing to obtain
