
Child Welfare Specialist

Job Role
Family Services Practitioners are key members of our service, working collaboratively with families, Child Protection and other professionals to provide a coordinated support package.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver an in-home family casework service to achieve the goals of enhancing child/children's development and family functioning.
- Identify and mitigate risks to children's safety and wellbeing and other family members.
- Support families to empower them to manage their life situation and engage positively with their community.
- Conduct risk and needs assessments, and develop and implement action plans.
- Establish community linkages and deliver interventions to improve outcomes for vulnerable children, youth and families.
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work or related discipline at degree level or diploma level with experience relevant to child welfare.
- Experience in engaging vulnerable children, youth and families and delivering a range of interventions.
- Skills in case management, including developing community connections.
- A commitment to working with vulnerable children young people and families who have experienced trauma.
