About the Role

We are seeking a motivated professional to join our team as a First Nations Engagement Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the University of Southern Queensland's commitment to creating and sharing knowledge, transforming lives, and solving problems that matter to our world.

The successful candidate will be responsible for strengthening relationships and trust between the University and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, promoting UniSQ as a provider of first choice in higher education pathways for First Nations peoples, and planning, delivering, and evaluating events, programs, and initiatives that support engagement with First Nations communities, organisations, business, and school students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve cultural safety and inclusion for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, staff, and community members
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver outcomes that support the University's First Nations Blueprint and Strategic Plan
  • Provide support and guidance to students, staff, and community members on matters related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and representation
What We're Looking For

We are seeking a candidate with a strong connection to the local Toowoomba community, Southwest, and Darling Downs regions, particularly with schools and organisations. The successful candidate will possess a sound knowledge and understanding of both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and societies, and an ability to build rapport with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees and communities.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver outcomes in this role.

What We Offer

The University of Southern Queensland offers a range of benefits, including a total remuneration range of $90,773 to $102,949 pa, a full-time continuing appointment, and a supportive and inclusive work environment.
