Head of Department - Design and Technology

At Melville SHS, we offer a wide range of academic programs, including an Academic Gifted and Talented Selective Entrance Program, Aviation Studies, Graphic Design Media, Netball, and Music in Focus program.

As a dynamic Head of Learning Area (HoLA) – Design and Technology, you will be responsible for developing a culture of excellence in teaching and learning in Digital Technologies, Design and Technology, Aviation, and Home Economics.

Key requirements include:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in building collaborative teams and leading curriculum development.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based best practice in teaching and learning.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with staff, students, and the wider community to achieve positive outcomes. They will lead and manage a dynamic Design and Technologies team to deliver a high-quality curriculum that maximises student achievement.

Successful applicants should have a comprehensive knowledge of the Western Australian Technologies Curriculum and be able to teach across Years 7 to 12.

They should also have expertise in at least one Technologies area (Digital Technologies, Design and Technology, or Home Economics) and a thorough understanding of Technologies courses, including General, Vocational education and training (VET), and Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
