Overview

Clinical Educator at St John of God Murdoch Hospital plays a critical role in the professional development of all caregivers. The role collaborates with the L&D Coordinator, department managers and caregivers to deliver, implement, assess and evaluate Learning and Development programs (including Graduate Programs) in the Endoscopy department.

Responsibilities
  • Support and provide guidance to caregivers (including graduates) to meet individual learning and development goals and achieve departmental objectives
  • In collaboration with the caregiver's manager, address learning gaps and support performance development goals and plans
  • Collaborate with Department Managers, other learning and development caregivers and key stakeholders to support local learning and development activities
  • Promote an interprofessional approach to learning, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace learning environment
  • Support the use of standardised tools, frameworks and guidelines to deliver, assess and evaluate learning activities
  • Identify individual, local and organisational learning needs through a learning needs analysis process in collaboration with the L&D Coordinator
  • Use adult learning principles when facilitating learning activities
  • Provide mentoring, coaching and experiential learning support to caregivers and assist other team members to undertake the same
  • As directed by the L&D Coordinator, use the Learning Management System to create learning events and record completions to meet professional development, local hospital/service and organisational compliance and risk requirements
  • Support the planning, onboarding, delivery and evaluation of the Pathways to Practice Graduate Programs and Pathway to Speciality Programs in collaboration with the L&D Coordinator and key stakeholders
Qualifications and Skills
  • Well-developed time management and organisational skills, effective conflict resolution, negotiation and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience applying adult learning principles to motivate and support caregivers to develop professionally
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, mentoring and coaching abilities to engage with a diverse workforce for small group teaching and presentations
  • Current registration as a Health Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with ongoing professional development (CPD record/Professional Practice Portfolio)
  • Knowledge of quality improvement and relevant accreditation and licensing processes; familiarity with learning and development programs that promote quality service delivery and safety
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems and MS Office
  • A qualification in, or progression towards, a post graduate certificate, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or other formal education/training development; recent experience as an educator, preceptor or supervisor in a healthcare environment is highly regarded
