The Director of the Library Resource Centre provides leadership and vision for the team and is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating high-quality, client-focused library, information, and research services for the Ruyton community. Our newly constructed Library, Auditorium and Performing Arts precinct will provide an integrated educational and cultural centre for our community. Our purpose-built multi-level K-12 library will provide a variety of flexible learning zones to support class, small group, multi-age, and individual learning activities.
The Director of the Library Resource Centre will oversee the delivery of information services, information literacy instruction, academic support, and teaching to enhance learning for students from K-12. This role will commence in January 2025 and is a 3 year, full-time, fixed-term position, with a teaching component to this role.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing a strategic plan for the library, aligned with the school's vision and goals.
- Providing leadership and guidance to the library team, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Managing the library's resources, including collections, technology, and facilities, to ensure they meet the needs of the Ruyton community.
- Developing and delivering information literacy programs, academic support, and teaching to enhance learning for students from K-12.
- Collaborating with teachers and other staff members to integrate library services into the curriculum.
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of library services, making recommendations for improvement.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Master's degree in Library and Information Science or a related field.
- Proven experience in a leadership role in a library or information services setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, students, and parents.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to stay up-to-date with best practices in library and information services.
