Newmont Mining is a leading gold mining company with a diverse portfolio of operations around the world. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer for Shaft and Winder Systems, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our underground mines.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of shaft and winder systems at our Tanami mine site in Australia. You will work closely with our Business Readiness Lead and other technical teams to ensure that all business readiness activities are completed on time and within budget.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the mining industry, particularly in shaft and hoisting systems, primary crushing circuits, conveyor circuits, and associated infrastructure. They will also have a mechanical trade or tertiary qualification and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a highly competitive salary package including an estimated $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits including annual bonuses, FIFO allowances, and gold level health insurance for you and your family.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Extensive experience in the mining industry, particularly in shaft and hoisting systems, primary crushing circuits, conveyor circuits, and associated infrastructure.
  • A mechanical trade or tertiary qualification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A self-starter with the ability to identify maintenance requirements associated with a vertical shaft hoisting system and crushing circuit along with the associated surface and underground infrastructure.
  • Experience in the preparation of FMEA reviews for new and existing equipment.
  • Experience in materials assessment and cataloguing process.
  • Experience in project delivery and execution.
  • Understanding of operational requirements.
