We are seeking a skilled Financial Advisor to join our team. As a key member, you will play a crucial role in providing expert financial guidance and support to clients across Government and Defence.

In this exciting opportunity, you will have the chance to broaden your consulting skills, advance your career, and be mentored by industry leaders. You will work on diverse, high-impact projects that shape better financial and commercial outcomes for clients.

Job Description

As a Financial Advisor, you will be responsible for advising and assisting client finance teams on accounting, budgeting, financial and management reporting. You will also enable better financial outcomes through cost modelling, pricing and charging reviews, sustainability analysis, forecasting, business case evaluation, procurement support and commercial assurance.

You will improve finance and corporate service functions by assessing and redesigning operating models, enhancing processes and controls, and supporting digitisation and automation. Additionally, you will stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends affecting government entities, and incorporate relevant insights into client solutions.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Technically, you bring:

  • Experience working with or within finance, accounting or related fields, supported by a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or a related discipline.
  • Organisational leadership of high performing teams with multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • A relevant accountancy qualification (CA ANZ or CPA) is advantageous.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in the Commonwealth Budget and Cabinet processes, including Budget Process Operational Rules, Cabinet Submissions, and Portfolio Budget Statements.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following: cost modelling, financial accounting, or commercial and contract assurance.
  • Well-developed analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data to drive strategic insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders.
Benefits

Our people enjoy a range of benefits, including market leading parental leave, flexible working arrangements, additional leave, employee share options, smart device reimbursement, wellness and lifestyle benefits, and Sonder mental health support.

Others

These positions require Australian Citizenship and willingness to undertake Baseline (or NV1) clearance to support work with Defence. We value diversity, equity and inclusion and encourage applications from marginalised and historically underrepresented communities.

Recruitment and assessment process: Our approach is underpinned by fairness and equal opportunity, with background checks as part of our hiring process. Some roles may require security clearances as applicable.
