About the Role

Metro Trains Melbourne is seeking an experienced Assistant Team Leader to oversee the inspection, maintenance, and renewal of infrastructure assets. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our rail network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee emergency repairs, track maintenance, and asset renewals, handling reports, material returns, and incident documentation.
  • Coach and develop staff, drive performance, manage rosters and training, and ensure adherence to Metro's values and standards.
  • Plan and allocate resources efficiently, lead pre- and post-work meetings, manage procurement, and request capital items as needed.
  • Ensure all work meets Occupational Health and Safety Standards, manage high-risk activities, identify hazards, and report incidents.
  • Manage depot vehicle maintenance, tool calibration/maintenance, and material supply to support reactive and planned work.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of track renewal experience.
  • Train Track Safety Awareness Certificate.
  • Rail Infrastructure (Rail Maintenance) Certificate III.
  • Valid Victorian drivers' licence.
  • Interested in and familiar with mechanical systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Track Force Protection Coordinator.
  • TLIF2082 Perform Hand signaller duties.
  • Medium Rigid (MR) driver's license.
  • First Aid Certificate Level 2.
  • Licence to operate at least one of the following: Loader Excavator Hi-Rail vehicle.
