New Ventures Manager – University Startups and Spinouts

Job Overview
The University of New South Wales is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the creation and growth of a New Ventures Team, driving the translation of research into impact. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the development of a thriving entrepreneurial culture within the university.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for spinouts and startups, leveraging the university's research strengths and expertise.
- Build and manage a portfolio of equity investments, working closely with UNSW Founders and Faculties to enhance entrepreneurial culture and expertise.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and capitalize on opportunities for research translation and commercialization.
Requirements
- Proven track record of executing spinouts and startups at strategic and operational levels, with a strong background in new venture building.
- Experience in go-to-market strategies, structures, and early-stage commercial deals, with a network of local and international investors and fund managers.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including researchers, entrepreneurs, and investors.
What We Offer
The University of New South Wales offers a competitive remuneration package, including a salary, superannuation, and performance bonus opportunities. This is a full-time position, with a 3-year contract and potential for extension.
