Merchandise Planning Specialist

Job Description

A Merchandise Planner plays a pivotal role in driving business performance by developing plans, forecasts, and parameters that ensure the right mix, quantity, and price of products to drive sales, profit, and optimize inventory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop merchandise financial plans informed by top-down and bottom-up data to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Develop category strategies that deliver on financial metrics and contribute to the company's success.
  • Develop models and forecasts to support accurate financial planning and optimize stock, sales, and profit.
  • Partner with stakeholders to adhere to the critical path schedule and ensure seamless collaboration.
  • Develop the option plan, setting a framework within which designers and buyers can select ranges. Prepare the range review for buy-off sign-off and work with the buyer to ensure the range is bought within plan parameters and OTB.
  • In-season management of OTB, inventory, profit, accurate replans, markdown, and promotional plans.
  • Monitor in-season and post-season performance of the department and work with buyers on strategies and tactics to quickly respond and improve performance.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • 3 years of experience as a planner, ideally within a large retail environment.
  • Proven success in trading a sizeable category, both in terms of sales value and number of SKUs, or previous experience planning a full category.
  • A proactive, can-do attitude with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work towards and deliver on key performance indicators (KPIs).
