About the OpportunityThe Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, traffic management technology, and Melbourne's first dedicated busway. This will significantly reduce travel times and improve public transport in Melbourne's east.
We are part of the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance with Major Road Projects Victoria, Symal, Arcadis, and WSP. Our scope includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades, smart traffic management technology, and noise protection meeting Victoria's toughest standards.
About the RoleWe seek an experienced Site Engineer to join our team on the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance project.
This role involves assisting supervisory staff and engineers in daily operations, quality, and safety monitoring, as well as procuring necessary plant, equipment, and materials for project completion.
Key Responsibilities- Complete assigned duties, ensuring technical matters associated with construction are managed efficiently, develop construction methods, and resolve design issues.
- Monitor expenditure, program, productivities, and completion as directed.
- Ensure adherence to statutory regulations, safety, quality, environmental performance, BTA policies, and Primary Standards.
- Regularly review the delivery schedule and report any deviations.
- Understand design progress, constructability review, and process for design review, contributing to overall design and constructability improvement.
- Provide input in construction planning, recommending changes to design details to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Ensure temporary works procedures are followed, and necessary controls are in place, including permits and qualified supervision.
- Understand USP requirements for working on and around assets and associated approvals.
- Prepare and control ITPs, samples/prototypes, lot registrations, inspection & tests, non-conformance, conformance certification, and maintenance of traceable verification records.
- Monitor construction progress against the programme and productivity, producing regular (daily) productivities for reporting and accurate data for decision-making.
- Experience in major infrastructure projects.
- Background in Civil Engineering.
- Excellent communication skills.
- You will have experience delivering large-scale infrastructure projects (Road/Rail), ideally having worked in a tier 1 setting.
- A degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Civil) or construction management with experience working on the delivery of major infrastructure projects, Utility relocations, and stakeholder management.
