We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Group Financial Controller to join our team in North Sydney. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting, while guaranteeing compliance with all relevant accounting policies and standards.

Key responsibilities
  • Oversee the preparation and review of group and local consolidated financial statements to ensure they accurately reflect the group's financial position.
  • Conduct the annual review of impairment testing to ensure asset values are accurately reported and comply with accounting standards.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial data to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to ensure the reliability of financial records.
  • Monitor compliance with external regulations (e.g. ISSB, EU Taxonomy), accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, AASB, NZ IFRS), and industry best practices and stay updated on changes in these regulations and standards, ensuring the group can adapt.
  • Provide guidance and support to the CFO, BU General Managers and Commercial Finance teams on the interpretation and application of accounting standards, especially during mergers and acquisitions.
  • Act as the main contact for the HANZ external statutory audit. Provide requested documentation and information on time and accurately. Facilitate effective communication between the external auditors and the finance team.
  • Act as a bridge between the finance department and other departments to ensure everyone understands and aligns with accounting objectives and requirements.

Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • A professional certification (e.g., CA, CPA) is preferred.
  • Relevant Big Four experience.
  • Proven experience in financial accounting, specifically in consolidation and statutory reporting.
  • Experience in systematic examination of information to determine the adequacy of policies and procedures is preferred.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • An ability to extract and interrogate diverse data and reports.
  • Problem solving capabilities.
  • Expertise in SAP and SAP FC.
  • Knowledge of IFRS and AASB.
