Geotechnical Site Technician

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drilling and logging boreholes using mechanical auger/hand auger equipment;
  • Operating machinery, including ute-mounted auger/percussion tube sampler;
  • Collecting and recording soil samples in accordance with AS1726-2017 guidelines;
  • Generating Site Reports and Feature Surveys;
  • Collaborating with drafting/engineering/NATA Accredited Lab Teams;
  • Maintaining effective internal communication with colleagues and occasional external client liaison;
  • Organising work tasks efficiently and effectively under changing conditions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A genuine interest in developing fundamental geotechnical engineering and surveying knowledge;
  • 1-2 years' experience in a similar role or some site experience (preferably but not essential);
  • A valid manual driver's license;
  • A minimum of one year's local driving experience;
  • Familiarity with operating machinery, ideally ute-mounted drilling rigs;
  • Knowledge/experience with survey equipment, preferably Leica or similar (desirable but not essential);
  • The ability to work independently or as part of a team;
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of programs;
  • PREFERRED knowledge of logging procedures in accordance with AS1726-2017 guidelines;
  • Understanding of relevant industry standards (AS1289-2014 and AS2870-2011);
  • An Industry White Card;
  • A willingness to work outdoors;
  • Mechanical aptitude;
  • Australian citizenship/eligibility for full-time work within Australia.
