Heavy Vehicle Operations Supervisor

This leadership role supervises workshop operations for heavy vehicles, forklifts, compactors and plant machinery. Key responsibilities include hands-on guidance, effective mentoring, diagnosing and repairing modern diesel trucks, prioritizing urgent breakdowns and minimizing downtime, scheduling and coordinating maintenance to ensure all machinery remains service-ready and compliant.

Our team requires a qualified diesel mechanic with an HR driver's license (mandatory). We need demonstrated experience with heavy vehicles and plant machinery, strong procurement and inventory management skills, competency with maintenance management systems and basic IT tools. Our ideal candidate will have a calm and adaptable approach under pressure, proven leadership experience managing employees and subcontractors, excellent communication and stakeholder liaison abilities.

  • Lead the team with hands-on guidance and effective mentoring.
  • Diagnose and repair modern diesel trucks, forklifts, compactors and plant equipment quickly.
  • Prioritize urgent breakdowns to minimize downtime in a fast-paced environment.
  • Schedule and coordinate maintenance to ensure all machinery remains service-ready and compliant.
  • Manage procurement and inventory, raising POs, ordering parts, tracking stock and overseeing admin.
  • Maintain accurate records of fleet logs, maintenance history and compliance documentation.
  • Serve as the key liaison for suppliers, contractors, logistics and operations teams.
  • Enforce safety and compliance protocols, including inductions, procedures and contractor oversight.
