Principal Naval Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Naval Architect to join our defence team in Adelaide. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and managing the design, development, and assessment of naval architecture projects.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage a team of naval architects, marine engineers, and designers.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
- Oversee the conceptual and detailed design of vessels, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
- Utilise advanced design software to develop innovative solutions to optimise vessel performance.
- Manage multiple projects from initial design through final delivery, ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with clients to understand their needs and translate them into technical specifications.
- Maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies and other stakeholders.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in naval architecture and marine engineering.
- Lead or contribute to R&D projects to enhance vessel efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and international standards and regulations.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in naval architecture, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Expertise in ship design software (e.g., Auto CAD, Rhino, Maxsurf).
- Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g., IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
