Job Overview

The Principal Adviser is a key leadership role within the Department of Health, responsible for providing strategic advice and support to the Executive Director.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of government priorities, policies, and procedures, as well as excellent communication and project management skills.

They will be responsible for coordinating priority and strategic activities for the Branch with the Executive Director, driving excellence in governance and decision-making, and maintaining an understanding of government, department, and divisional priorities, risks, and issues.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the health system in Victoria, working collaboratively with stakeholders across the department and external partners to achieve optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level specialist advice and support to the Executive Director on strategic policy and operational matters
  • Design, deliver, and maintain core governance functions for the branch
  • Strategically design and develop the delivery of branch objectives
  • Support the Executive Director and branch executive to make the highest impact possible
