Recovery Mentor Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Recovery Mentor to join our Crisis Support Space team in Ipswich. As a Recovery Mentor, you will provide non-clinical support and person-centered care to individuals experiencing psychological distress and/or suicidality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate educative Peer Support presentations to clients and staff, providing inspiration and motivation.
  • Share coping strategies and mindfulness activities to assist clients with self-regulation.
  • Advocate for clients' needs and liaise with staff regarding referrals.
Requirements:
  • Certificate IV in mental health non-clinical, mental health peer work, and relevant experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with people accessing the service, families/carers, colleagues, Qld Health professionals, and other stakeholders.
  • Lived experience of mental illness recovery and the ability to use this in your work practices.
  • Ability to use person-centered recovery-oriented and trauma-informed principles in providing support to people at risk of suicide.
  • A strong sense of professional boundaries and integrity.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a registered roadworthy and insured vehicle.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake vaccination of preventable diseases.
