About the Role

The Richmond Fellowship Queensland is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Recovery Mentor to join our Crisis Support Space team based in Ipswich.

The Crisis Support Space provides mental health crisis support to individuals experiencing psychological distress and/or suicidality. As a Recovery Mentor, you will work closely with mental health clinicians to provide non-clinical support and person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide inspiration and motivation through facilitating educative Peer Support presentations to clients and staff
  • Share coping strategies and mindfulness activities to assist clients with self-regulation
  • Advocate for clients' needs and liaise with staff regarding referrals

Requirements

  • Certificate IV in mental health non-clinical, mental health peer work, and relevant experience or equivalent relevant experience working with people with mental illness
  • Ability to work collaboratively with people accessing the service, families/carers, colleagues, Qld Health professionals, and other stakeholders
  • Lived experience of mental illness recovery and the ability to use this in your work practices
  • Ability to use person-centred recovery-oriented and trauma-informed principles in providing support to people at risk of suicide
  • A strong sense of professional boundaries and integrity
  • Valid driver's license and access to a registered roadworthy and insured vehicle (minimum third-party property)
  • Willingness and ability to undertake vaccination of preventable diseases that complies with the Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases - Qld Health Policy Directive
