About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Recovery Mentor to join our Crisis Support Space team in Ipswich.
The Crisis Support Space provides mental health crisis support to individuals experiencing psychological distress and/or suicidality. As a Recovery Mentor, you will work closely with mental health clinicians to provide non-clinical support and person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide inspiration and motivation through facilitating educative Peer Support presentations to clients and staff.
- Share coping strategies and mindfulness activities to assist clients with self-regulation.
- Advocate for clients' needs and liaise with staff regarding referrals.
Requirements
- Certificate IV in mental health non-clinical, mental health peer work, and relevant experience or equivalent.
- Ability to work collaboratively with people accessing the service, families/carers, colleagues, and Qld Health professionals.
- Lived experience of mental illness recovery and the ability to use this in your work practices.
- Ability to use person-centred recovery-oriented and trauma-informed principles in providing support to people at risk of suicide.
- A strong sense of professional boundaries and integrity.
- Valid driver's license and access to a registered roadworthy and insured vehicle.
