Job Title: Technical Architect – Cyber Security Assurance

At the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), we protect Australia and Australians from threats to their security. We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Architect to join our team and contribute to our mission.

About the Role

We are looking for a Technical Architect with a proven track record in cyber security engineering to deliver secure, trustworthy, sustainable, and cyber resilient ICT enabled capabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing complex ICT systems, delivering technical security advice, and informing technical security decisions to ensure ASIO's ICT solutions are fit-for-purpose, secure by design, and aligned to ASIO's requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote, enable, and provide specialist security advice on the design and architecture of new and emerging systems in alignment with existing implementations to provide continual security uplift.
  • Govern system design ensuring conformance with industry and government security frameworks, policies, and standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments against vulnerabilities and threats to determine the security controls to proactively remediate and reduce security risks and concerns.
  • Conduct security requirements and control analysis of new capabilities to identify gaps and enhancements that can be included to deliver security by design.
  • Closely collaborate with technical specialists across ASIO and domestic and international partners to ensure the secure design and implementation of ASIO's technology ecosystem.
  • Drive the adoption of new technologies and different ways of working to ensure security requirements are at the forefront.
  • Represent IT Security on relevant governance boards/groups and ensure security outcomes are appropriately prioritised and delivered against.
Requirements
  • Proven track record and professional history in cyber security engineering to deliver secure, trustworthy, sustainable, and cyber resilient ICT enabled capabilities.
  • Knowledge of information security Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), security architecture concepts, cloud security, and Dev Sec Ops.
  • Solid understanding of AWS security architecture concepts and knowledge and experience with cloud services such as containers, CI/CD pipelines, secure code management.
  • Experienced in the design, implementation, and/or maintenance of enterprise systems.
  • Strong security awareness and risk management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks, standards, and technologies.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to lead the delivery of secure outcomes in complex scenarios.
  • Relevant qualifications within cyber security and/or technical specialisations (e.g. CISSP, CRISC, SABSA, etc.) are highly desirable.
