As a visionary academic leader, you will spearhead the development and implementation of an operational plan for the First Year College. This role is pivotal in delivering innovative educational practices that support student engagement, retention, and successful transition into university life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee academic programs, research initiatives, and community partnerships to foster academic excellence and promote a collaborative and inclusive environment.
  • Manage budgets and resources to ensure the efficient delivery of services.
  • Represent the College across internal and external forums to advance its reputation and impact nationally and globally.

This leadership position requires a strong focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and integration across education, research, and industry engagement. You will lead student retention initiatives, support pedagogical innovation and technology-enhanced learning through the VU Block Model Academy, and ensure course quality, academic integrity, and student belonging and wellbeing.

About You

You are a senior executive with a distinguished record of achievement and a PhD in a relevant field. Internationally recognised for your contributions to higher education, you bring experience in academic leadership and management, supported by a deep understanding of national and global tertiary education trends, government policy, and funding frameworks.

As a thought leader, you will enhance the first-year student experience and further advance the VU Block Model. You are committed to fostering a values-based, inclusive, and collaborative culture, and you lead with integrity, empathy, and strategic foresight.

With exceptional communication skills and a passion for equity, diversity, and inclusion, you will inspire meaningful engagement across disciplines and make a lasting impact on the institution's education and scholarship.
