The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is seeking a Regional Team Leader to join their team.

About the Role:

  • Our workforce is expanding and we have an exciting opportunity for a Hunter Team Leader to join our leadership team.

You'll provide day-to-day guidance and support for several operational staff (up to five direct reports) while contributing directly to the delivery of conservation programs across the region.

This includes overseeing the quality of staff outputs such as annual reports and acting as a point of escalation on agreement assurance matters.

The role also encompasses landholder support and customer service; communications and stakeholder engagement; project management; conservation assessment, monitoring and evaluation.

About You:

  • You are a collaborative leader who enjoys working with people and delivering results through a team.
  • You have strong oral and written communication skills, practical approaches to problem solving and the ability to balance priorities in a complex environment.
  • You bring experience in project/program delivery, an understanding of conservation or natural resource management, and a commitment to supporting both your staff and the people you work with.
  • You also have a sharp eye for detail to ensure accuracy in compliance, monitoring and reporting.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive experience in natural resource management or biodiversity conservation
  • A current driver's licence and willingness to travel

Participation in the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme and private land conservation programs:

Employees will be required to disclose any participation in these programs to ensure potential conflicts are managed appropriately.

Additionally, employees will not be able to seek additional funding beyond what has been agreed to by the Department during their employment or for a 12-month period following termination of employment.
