Western Sydney Airport Job Opportunity

This role oversees the safe and efficient operation of our airport's baggage system. The successful candidate will monitor the planning and allocation of baggage system resources and manage the flow of baggage within the baggage handling systems.

Liaison with airlines and the Baggage Service Provider (BSP) is required to coordinate daily and seasonal flight schedules. Monitoring aircraft arrival times to predict high inbound volumes of baggage is also necessary.

  • Coordinating plans for daily and seasonal flight schedules with airlines and the BSP
  • Monitoring assembly of baggage batches and allocation to designated loading resources
  • Predicting high inbound volumes of baggage and coordinating with airlines and the BSP
  • Ensuring adequate staffing of essential resources for inbound/outbound activities of standard and oversize baggage
  • Monitoring storage capacity and clearance of outbound oversize baggage
  • Establishing effective communication with airlines and Ground Handling Agents regarding flight preparations and resource allocation
  • Monitoring performance of the BSP in unloading incoming baggage and segregating between international and domestic baggage
  • Coordinating planned maintenance and addressing system malfunctions with the BHS contractor
  • Managing contingency arrangements for any baggage system issues and overseeing clearance of arrivals carousels
  • Assisting in coordination of resources to respond to system outages and associated business continuity requirements
Requirements
  • 3-5 years experience in airport baggage systems operations or equivalent roles
  • Highly effective planning skills and ability to foresee potential issues
  • Focused, safe and efficient work methods and strong attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Data analysis and data model interrogation skills to identify trends and inefficiencies
  • Ability to obtain an Authority to Drive Airside (ADA) and Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
