Job Summary

The EHS Specialist I will play a critical role in ensuring the environmental health and safety of our facilities and employees. This position will be responsible for leading day-to-day aspects of EHS compliance, including control of inspections and audits of company assets, procedures, and infrastructure. The EHS Specialist I will work closely with the EHS Manager to maintain company objectives and ensure compliance with all current statutory, regulatory, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Provide advice and guidance on health, safety, and environmental issues
    • Monitor site EHS performance, reporting at local and divisional level
    • Assist in achieving continual process improvement on site
  • Documentation and Recording
    • Management of site EHS documentation and recording systems
    • Audit departments/contractors
  • Training and Development
    • Undertake, lead, and coordinate risk assessment program and provide mentorship to the larger team
    • Supervise and/or coordinate site EHS training
  • Legislative and Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensure legislative and regulatory compliance
    • Provide assistance to various committee teams
  • Occupational Health Program
    • Support occupational health program
  • Quality and Customer Satisfaction
    • Implement, maintain, and advise on HSE matters in accordance with statutory, regulatory, and company standards, procedures, and systems
    • Ensure the availability and reliability/accuracy of all facility reports to satisfy customer requirements
  • Improvement and Efficiency
    • Lead, participate, and contribute to practical process improvement (PPI) projects that deliver business HSE objectives in an efficient manner

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in health, safety, environmental, risk management, occupational hygiene, or other appropriate qualification related to HSE preferred
  • Bachelor degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., engineering, science, etc.), supplemented with Cert IV or diploma in occupational health and safety
  • Previous experience in pharmaceutical/GMP industry environmental, health, and safety experience preferred
  • Knowledge of EHS legislation
  • Experience in taking care of local and regulatory authorities
  • Excellent presentation and motivational skills
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and effective communication
