The Specialist Pharmacist - Infectious Diseases role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to provide a contemporary and evidence-based infectious diseases service.
You will play a pivotal part in the governance and daily operations of the Antimicrobial Stewardship program, contributing to safe and effective antimicrobial use across the organisation. Your expertise will support the development and review of clinical guidelines, drive quality improvement initiatives, and enhance education for healthcare professionals and consumers.
Key Responsibilities:- Act as a pharmacy lead in reviewing and implementing improvements to working practices and systems within the Agency in relation to antimicrobial stewardship in accordance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS)
- Act as a senior member of the pharmacy department
- Support the Clinical Pharmacy team
- Support the Statewide Hospital Pharmacy Operations Unit
- Participate actively in and contribute to the organisation's Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives and related training
- Proven extensive experience in practicing as a pharmacist, including both dispensing and clinical pharmacy practice, together with experience in an infectious disease setting with well-developed current knowledge relating to antimicrobial medications
- Demonstrated experience working as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team, together with proven problem solving and conflict resolution skills to resolve practice-based issues and interpersonal conflict amongst team members
- Experience in providing education and training to pharmacy, medical and nursing staff, and developing and implementing programs and policies which improve multidisciplinary medication management
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia or completion of an overseas qualification eligible for skills assessment through the Australian Pharmacy Council
- Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
- For pre-registration (intern) pharmacists: Eligible for provisional registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
