Job Title: Horticultural Specialist

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Horticultural Specialist to join our team at DreamWorld. As a key member of our Life Sciences department, you will be responsible for cutting suitable koala and tree kangaroo fodder from our plantations to sustain our growing populations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • **Leaf Cutting and Plantation Maintenance:**
    • Cut suitable koala and tree kangaroo fodder from our plantations
    • Perform general maintenance tasks such as planting, fertilizing, watering, and slashing
  • **Animal Husbandry:**
    • Assist in feeding our koala population
    • Perform general animal husbandry duties
  • **Teamwork and Communication:**
    • Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills
    • Work collaboratively with our Life Sciences team to achieve our conservation goals

Requirements:

  • **Physical Fitness:**
    • Possess a high level of energy and physical fitness to perform physically demanding work
  • **Outdoor Work:**
    • Willingness to work outdoors in a bushland environment and in all weather conditions
  • **Communication and Teamwork:**
    • Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • **Self-Motivation and Reliability:**
    • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently
  • **Certifications and Licenses:**
    • Hold a current Apply First Aid qualification
    • Hold a current QLD Manual Drivers Licence and ability in 4-wheel drive operation

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • **Previous Experience:**
    • Previous experience in a similar environment such as farming, nursery, grounds, or basic plantation maintenance
  • **Tertiary Qualifications:**
    • Tertiary qualifications in any of the sciences, particularly horticulture
