Horticultural Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic Horticultural Specialist to join our Life Sciences department at Ardent Leisure Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining our leaf plantations, cutting suitable fodder for our koala and tree kangaroo populations, and assisting with animal husbandry duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the health and productivity of our leaf plantations through regular fertilising, watering, and slashing.
• Cut and prepare suitable fodder for our koala and tree kangaroo populations.
• Assist with animal husbandry duties, including feeding and caring for our koalas and tree kangaroos.
• Work collaboratively with our team to achieve our conservation and horticulture goals.

Requirements

• Possess a high level of energy and physical fitness to perform physically demanding work.
• Be willing to work outdoors in a bushland environment and in all weather conditions.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Be self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently.
• Hold a current Apply First Aid qualification.
• Hold a current QLD Manual Drivers Licence and ability in 4-wheel drive operation.

Desirable Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar environment such as farming, nursery, grounds, or basic plantation maintenance.
• Tertiary qualifications in any of the sciences, particularly horticulture.
