Canberra, ACT, Australia Australian Defence Force Full time

As an Aerospace Combat Specialist with the Australian Defence Force, you will embark on a challenging and rewarding career path that combines cutting-edge technology with high-performance flying skills.

After completing Initial Officer Training, you will begin your ab-initio pilot training at No 1 Flying Training School on the Pilatus PC-21 at RAAF Base East Sale. This will be followed by further training at No 2 Flying Training School at RAAF Base Pearce near Perth.

If selected for Fast Jet Pilot training, you will then undertake introduction to fighter training on the Hawk 127 aircraft with No 79 Squadron at RAAF Base Pearce and later with No 76 Squadron at RAAF Base Williamtown near Newcastle.

As a Fast Jet Pilot, you will have the opportunity to fly one of three advanced fighter jets: the F-35A Lightning II, the F/A-18F Super Hornet, or the EA-18G Growler Electronic Attack aircraft.

The F-35A Lightning II is a single-seat, high-performance, stealth fighter that employs state-of-the-art weapons and serves as a communications node that provides battlespace information to the Army, Navy, and friendly forces.

The F/A-18F Super Hornet is a multi-role fighter that can conduct a variety of combat-related missions, including air-to-air combat and air-to-surface weapons employment.

The EA-18G Growler is an electronic attack aircraft that teams up with your Weapons System Officer to disrupt, deceive, or deny a broad range of military electronic systems, including radars and communications.
