About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Operational DER Management team, where you will be responsible for analyzing DER behaviors, developing suitable power system models, and implementing management measures in our operational systems. Your expertise will help us make sure the necessary measures are in place to securely, safely, and efficiently operate the power system with up to 100% of energy supplied by renewable distributed resources.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of a work program to improve AEMO tools for managing low demand/high DER periods.
  • Apply your Python programming skills to drive innovative solutions.
  • Develop control room visualization interfaces that enhance decision-making capabilities.
  • Collaborate with a talented team to identify priority areas for further system uplift.
  • Work closely with other AEMO teams and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals.

Requirements
  • Proven Python programming skills, preferably with experience in test-driven development and object-oriented programming.
  • Strong quantitative analysis skills, including problem-solving, modeling, and critical thinking.
  • Experience running dynamic power system studies using platforms like PSSE, PSCAD, or PowerFactory is highly desirable.
  • A tertiary qualification in software or electrical engineering, or a related field, with a focus on power systems is preferred.
