The Department of Justice and Community Safety seeks a dedicated Senior Program Officer to join the Koori Justice Unit. This critical role involves supporting the design, delivery, and evaluation of Aboriginal justice programs under the Aboriginal Justice Agreement.
About the RoleThis is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Aboriginal Victorians. You will work closely with Aboriginal Communities, the Evaluation and Insights team, and other units within the department to ensure community-led programs are effective and meet their agreed outcomes.
Your Key Responsibilities- Partner with Aboriginal Communities, the Evaluation and Insights team, and other departments to design and support community-led programs.
- Lead the development of program scope, logic, budget, and stakeholder plans in collaboration with Aboriginal communities.
- Provide advice and operational support to ensure programs meet agreed outcomes, align with AJA priorities, and address community-identified needs.
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal community, its society and culture, and the issues impacting it.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and work effectively with the Victorian Aboriginal community.
- Demonstrated experience working in the Aboriginal community and designing community programs, including program logics through to managing/development delivery of new programs.
- Demonstrated understanding of funding agreements and program budgets, including the ability to track spend and identify financial risks.
