We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to fill the role of Head of Department for Health and Physical Education.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a dynamic team of educators in the design, delivery, and evaluation of Health and Physical Education programs from Year 7 to Year 12.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing and supporting collaboration, alignment, and a sense of collective efficacy within the Health and Physical Education Learning Area, ensuring the curriculum is inclusive and reflects the diversity of learners.
  • Engaging with parents and the wider community to support student learning, wellbeing, and development.
  • Promoting student wellbeing through physical activity and fostering respectful relationships.
  • Supporting pastoral care initiatives through active engagement in student mentoring and wellbeing programs.
  • Providing leadership in the development and implementation of contemporary, evidence-based Health and Physical Education teaching practices that align with the College's Vision for Learning and the values of Catholic education.
  • Leading the effective use of data and feedback to build teacher capacity, ensuring students are engaged, challenged, and progressing in their learning.
  • Overseeing the planning and delivery of College sporting events and providing supervision to the Sports Coordinator.
  • Contributing to the College's strategic goals through active participation in the Middle Leaders and Learning Area Leaders Teams.
  • Supporting professional learning and reflective practice within the Health and Physical Education team.
  • Ensuring Health and Physical Education programs promote respect for the dignity of the human person and stewardship of the body, in line with Catholic teachings.
  • Embedding Catholic values such as compassion, justice, and service into health and wellbeing education.
  • Supporting whole-school initiatives that reflect the Catholic ethos, including liturgical events and service learning.
  • Encouraging ethical decision-making and moral development through health education topics.
  • Managing resources, facilities, and equipment to meet safety and compliance requirements.
