Safeguarding Children and Strengthening Kinship Networks Specialist

The Case Manager role is focused on supporting children in statutory kinship care placements where Child Protection are involved, and the placement is expected to last more than 3 months.
The goal of this program is to identify kinship networks early, strengthen family reunification where possible, promote placement stability and prevent children from being placed in residential care unnecessarily.
Key Objectives:
- Undertake comprehensive assessments and provide recommendations to Child Protection about the suitability of kinship care placements
- Support children to settle within the placement and support kinship carers to respond to the child's safety, stability and developmental needs
You will work with children, young people and families with complex needs, using your strong risk assessment skills to ensure the best outcomes for each child.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential in this role.
To be successful, you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a tertiary qualification in social work, welfare work or a related discipline.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience working with children, young people and families with complex needs
- An understanding of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and Best Interests Framework
- An understanding of the out of home care and child protection systems and knowledge of the resources and services available in the region
- Strong risk assessment skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
