Medical Transcription Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Transcription Specialist to join our team. The primary objective of this position is to provide accurate and efficient medical transcription services to support the needs of our busy medical professionals.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • Accurate transcription of urgent and routine medical correspondence, including letters and reports
  • Liaison with medical professionals and secretaries to ensure timely review, correction, approval, and release of medical correspondence
  • Sharing responsibility for the management of telephone requests from medical professionals and other staff
  • Preparation of after-hours and on-call doctor lists
  • Competent use of IT systems and training in new technology
  • Effective communication and professionalism in interactions with team members and external customers

Requirements:

  • Mandatory:
    • 3+ years of experience as a Medical Typist (minimum 70 wpm & >95% accuracy)
    • Ability to work effectively without close supervision
    • Attention to detail
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
    • Professional manner in phone and face-to-face interactions
    • Outstanding teamwork qualities and flexibility
    • Proficiency in computer hardware and Windows-based software packages
  • Desired:
    • Previous experience in Oncology/Haematology medical typing
    • Medical Terminology qualification
    • Administrative experience

This role requires strong organizational and time management skills, as well as excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
