Senior Medical Officer - PNG (FIFO, Expatriate role)

We are seeking a highly skilled expatriate Senior Medical Officer to lead the clinical operations of a remote community medical facility in Papua New Guinea.
This FIFO leadership role involves direct patient care, medical oversight, coordination of referrals and evacuations, and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality healthcare aligned with global and local health frameworks.
Applications from expatriate medical professionals are welcome, with interest from Australasia, Asia and Pacific regions encouraged.
Key Responsibilities
Represent Medical Services with the Health Service Manager to the Client, external stakeholders, and community members.
Provide clinical and strategic leadership to the Medical Services of the Medical Centre, Mine Site Clinic and Camp Site Clinic.
Supervise Medical Doctors, Intensive Care Paramedics and Heads of Department (Radiology, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Disease Control and Lab) to ensure compliance with evidence-based guidelines, rational prescribing, waste reduction and efficient health service delivery.
Actively participate in patient care, including consultations, secondary reviews and recommendations for medical referrals and medical evacuations as required.
Coordinate medical emergencies, referrals and evacuations according to Standard Operating Procedures and MERP, including documentation and reporting.
Provide written reports and returns in accordance with client needs.
Any other reasonable duties delegated by management.
Essential Criteria
Medical degree and current, unrestricted license to practice.
Minimum ten (10) years of experience including trauma/emergency, occupational health, family medicine and at least 5 years in leadership or management roles.
Leadership experience in medical settings, including remote or resource-limited environments.
Ability to work under pressure and provide clinical guidance in complex cases.
Current CPR/BLS and ALS/ITLS (or equivalent) certifications and willingness to obtain PNG medical registration.
Desirable Criteria
Prior or current PNG Medical Board Registration (highly regarded).
Experience in Obstetrics, tropical medicine, aeromedical evacuations, or anaesthetics.
Healthcare experience in the extractive resource or industrial sectors.
