Job Description: Auxiliary Firefighter

The role involves responding to emergency incidents as a member of a team, promoting community safety and emergency preparedness by participating in community education activities. Additionally, you will develop and maintain competencies by engaging in regular drills and training courses provided by QFES to ensure safety and effectiveness on the fire ground.

Maintaining required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training is essential. You will also operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment in a safe and effective manner, contribute to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities, and ensure maintenance and repair of operational equipment and station facilities.

Contribution to incident reporting and general station administration is also required. As an important part of the station team, you should promote a positive team approach in all work activities, comply with legislative, policy, and procedural requirements appropriate to the position, communicate effectively with QFES personnel and the general community, and contribute to a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Respond to emergency incidents as a member of a team, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Promote community safety and emergency preparedness through community education and outreach activities.
  • Develop and maintain competencies through participation in regular drills, training courses, and workshops.
  • Maintain required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training.
  • Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Contribute to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities.
  • Ensure maintenance and repair of operational equipment and station facilities.
  • Participate in incident reporting and general station administration tasks.

Salary Information

The estimated salary range for this role is AU$55,000 - AU$65,000 per annum, based on location and experience. Please refer to our Entry Level Operational Application Guide for more information on the application process and selection criteria.
