Flight Attendant - Cairns

Rex Airlines operates a fleet of Saab 340 aircraft to 54 destinations across Australia, providing a link between cities and regional areas.

The flight attendants are known for their warm and genuine inflight service, which has earned the airline recognition in the industry. This highlights the dedication of our team making Rex a standout in the competitive aviation market.

We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as full-time solo flight attendants based in Cairns. The ideal candidate will be:

  • Independent and self-reliant: As solo Flight Attendants, you will be responsible for managing the entire cabin independently, ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers throughout the flight.
  • Customer-focused: As a solo Flight Attendant, you will manage your own cabin and have the opportunity to provide a caring and personalized service, while traveling to some of Australia's most unique destinations.
  • Detail-oriented and safety-conscious: You will need to manage in-flight services while maintaining a high standard of safety and compliance with aviation regulations.

This role offers a great work/life balance along with competitive remuneration and includes working on weekends, public holidays, shift work (which includes early starts & late finishes), and some nights spent away from home.

Some of the duties you will perform are equipment/security checks, in-flight announcements, in-flight food & beverage service, cleaning duties as well as handling various situations that may occur in the cabin, on your own.

It is a rewarding position where every day is different coupled with a great team spirit.

Requirements include:

  • Being at least 18 years of age
  • Having Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
  • Being no taller than 173 cm
  • Hold a current Provide First Aid Certificate
  • Hold a current Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate
  • Being able to demonstrate one of the following:
    • Completed a minimum of 3 years of secondary education in Australia or New Zealand, or
    • Worked in Australia or New Zealand for at least 3 of the last 5 years, or
    • Worked in the UK, Ireland, or USA for at least 3 of the last 5 years, or
    • Completed the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with an overall grade of 5.5.
  • Being able to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
  • Having experience in customer service
  • Being able to swim fully clothed without aid or floating device
  • Being flexible; working hours will vary and include working during holiday times and peak periods
  • Having a high level of personal presentation
  • Having a natural willingness to please and care for people

Extensive training will be provided – flying experience is not required.
